Waterproofing: The primary purpose of roofing felt is to act as a waterproof barrier. It helps to prevent water from seeping into the roof deck and causing damage to the underlying structure.
Protection: Roofing felt also provides an added layer of protection against leaks, ice dams, and wind-driven rain. It helps to keep the roof deck dry during the roofing installation process before the final roofing material is applied.
Vapor Barrier: Roofing felt can also act as a vapor barrier, preventing moisture from inside the house from penetrating the roof and causing condensation issues.
