Actaea simplex ‘Black Negligee’ is a dramatic perennial prized for its striking contrast of deep purple-black foliage and creamy white flower spikes that emerge in late summer and continue into autumn. The tall, upright stems create a bold architectural statement in shaded or semi-shaded borders, woodland gardens, or mixed perennial plantings. Its combination of dark leaves and bright flower spikes adds visual interest and late-season colour, making it a standout feature in any garden.

Thriving in moist, fertile, well-drained soil, Actaea simplex ‘Black Negligee’ prefers partial to full shade. Hardy and low-maintenance once established, it provides consistent seasonal impact and attracts pollinators, enhancing garden biodiversity while offering dramatic structure and elegance.
