Actaea simplex ‘Hillside Black Beauty’ is a dramatic perennial valued for its finely divided, dark purple-black foliage and tall, elegant flower spikes. From late summer into early autumn, it produces fragrant, fluffy white flowers with a hint of pink that stand out strikingly against the deep leaves. The blooms are nectar-rich and highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, making it as beneficial as it is ornamental.

Thriving in partial shade with moist, humus-rich soil, ‘Hillside Black Beauty’ is well suited to woodland gardens, shaded borders, or damp, sheltered areas. Its bold foliage adds structure and contrast, while the late-season flowers extend colour and fragrance into the garden when many perennials have finished. This cultivar combines striking looks, wildlife value, and garden reliability.
