Caryopteris clandonensis ‘Grand Bleu’, commonly known as Bluebeard ‘Grand Bleu’, is a compact deciduous shrub prized for its late summer to autumn display of deep blue flowers. The aromatic, dark green leaves provide a lush backdrop to the vibrant blooms, making it an excellent addition to mixed borders and wildlife gardens. Its dense, rounded habit ensures it remains neat and manageable, even in smaller garden spaces.

Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, ‘Grand Bleu’ is well-suited for UK gardens. Its drought tolerance makes it a resilient choice for various garden settings, including coastal and city gardens. The shrub reaches an ultimate height and spread of about 100 cm, fitting well into cottage and informal garden designs.

Beyond its ornamental appeal, ‘Grand Bleu’ serves as a valuable resource for pollinators, with its nectar-rich flowers attracting bees and butterflies during the late season. To maintain its compact form and promote prolific blooming, it’s advisable to prune the shrub back hard each spring. This low-maintenance plant offers extended interest in the garden, enhancing both aesthetics and biodiversity.
