Crambe cordifolia is an imposing herbaceous perennial valued for its immense clouds of tiny, fragrant white flowers carried in billowing sprays above bold, heart-shaped green leaves. Flowering in early to midsummer, the frothy masses of blossom create a striking, almost ethereal effect, often compared to a perennial gypsophila. Its nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators, while the large basal foliage provides bold texture and architectural presence in mixed borders or as a dramatic focal point in larger gardens.

Thriving in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil, Crambe cordifolia is best grown in a spacious spot where its expansive flower heads can be fully appreciated. Once established, it is hardy and relatively low-maintenance, requiring little more than cutting back after flowering. Long-lived and reliable, it rewards with a spectacular seasonal display and strong structural interest.
