Epimedium grandiflorum ‘Purple Pixie’ is a charming perennial that adds subtle elegance to shaded gardens. This cultivar produces delicate, two-tone flowers with deep violet-purple sepals and pale purple petals featuring white-tipped spurs, creating a soft, airy effect above the foliage. The heart-shaped leaves emerge with a reddish-bronze tint in spring, gradually fading to green as the season progresses. Flowering from mid to late spring, ‘Purple Pixie’ attracts pollinators such as bees and butterflies, enhancing garden biodiversity.

Preferring part shade to full shade and well-drained, moist soil, ‘Purple Pixie’ is drought-tolerant once established and relatively low-maintenance. Its compact, clump-forming habit makes it suitable for woodland gardens, rock gardens, or as a groundcover beneath shrubs. Regular removal of spent flowers encourages prolonged blooming, while leaving some seed heads provides winter interest and food for birds. With its delicate appearance and ecological benefits, ‘Purple Pixie’ is a valuable addition to any garden.
