Persicaria microcephala Red Dragon is an eye-catching perennial, prized for its striking foliage and subtle flower display. The leaves are dark green with bold, red-tinged veins, creating a dramatic contrast and strong architectural interest in the garden. From midsummer into autumn, it produces slender, pale pink flower spikes that rise above the foliage, adding delicate texture without detracting from the colourful leaves. Its compact, clumping habit makes it ideal for borders, containers, or mixed planting schemes where ornamental foliage is a key feature.

Thriving in moist, well-drained soil, this hardy perennial prefers full sun to partial shade and is fully suited to the UK climate. It forms dense clumps that require minimal maintenance, with only occasional trimming to maintain shape and encourage fresh growth. Persicaria microcephala Red Dragon combines striking foliage, subtle flowering, and resilience, making it a versatile and decorative choice for adding long-lasting colour and structure to gardens.
