Rudbeckia maxima is a tall, clump-forming perennial with large, coarse green foliage and dramatic, bright yellow daisy-like flowers with dark brown central cones. Blooming from midsummer into early autumn, it provides a striking architectural presence in large borders, naturalistic plantings, and wildlife gardens. The flowers are highly attractive to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators, offering both ecological and ornamental value. Its upright, sturdy stems and bold leaves make it a standout feature in late-summer landscapes.

It thrives in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil and is medium-maintenance, requiring occasional deadheading and support for taller stems in exposed locations. Non-native to the UK, it is valued for its height, long-lasting flowers, and ability to provide structural impact in large-scale or naturalistic garden schemes.
