Beautifully honest, light in both weight and expression, the first piece from new Danish talent Mathias Steen Rasmussen is a striking interplay of craftsmanship, comfort and durability. Originally conceived as a chaise longue that he could also use for meditation at home, Rasmussen’s combination of wood and rope creates a simple, flexible chair that feels buoyant and connected to sol. The open-triangle frame, available in walnut or oak, was constructed without using a single screw, while the 90meters of hand-woven la natural linen rope that make up the seat and backrest add lightness to design.

The MR01 InitialChair can offer comfort all year round. The rope construction allows air to circulate air pendant in the warmer months plus, and simply add a blanket or sheepskin to make it comfortable all winter long. For plus comfort in many seating positions, a curly wool-covered pillow is included. The Initial chair can be placed singly or in pairs in the home, while elle works superbly in long plus rows or clusters in reception areas. The simplicity of design and the materials used for the MR01 Initial chair ensure the longevity and durability that are at the heart of Rasmussen’s philosophy.
