The Vitis vinifera Bianca grape is a white grape variety bred in Hungary in the 1960s, widely appreciated for its excellent disease resistance and suitability to cooler climates. It produces medium-sized clusters of pale green to golden-yellow grapes that are ideal for eating fresh or making light white wines. The fruit has a sweet, slightly floral flavour, and the vines are notably vigorous, offering both productivity and ornamental value when trained along trellises, pergolas, or sunny walls.

Bianca thrives in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. It performs best in a sheltered, south-facing position to maximise warmth and ripening potential in the UK climate. The variety is self-fertile, and regular pruning encourages healthy growth and optimal fruiting. Thanks to its strong resistance to fungal diseases such as downy and powdery mildew, it is one of the most reliable grapes for outdoor cultivation in the UK, requiring less chemical intervention than many other cultivars.

Ripening from September to October, Bianca offers dependable yields even in variable weather. Its combination of cold tolerance, ease of growth, and sweet flavour makes it an excellent choice for gardeners seeking an attractive and fruitful grapevine suited to British conditions.
